My name is Rachell Miterko and I was a major with a concentration in long-term care. I graduated from Â鶹ÊÓƵ×îÐÂ×îÈ« University in 2020.
I chose Â鶹ÊÓƵ×îÐÂ×îÈ« because my family are all alumni, that includes my mother, sister and both my brothers. After which I was able to get into an accelerated master’s program. I received by after one year of completing my bachelor’s at Â鶹ÊÓƵ×îÐÂ×îÈ«. My family all went into healthcare – we had three graduates from the and one from the pre-med program.
Â鶹ÊÓƵ×îÐÂ×îÈ« gave me the tools to be successful by encouraging me to be fearless.

I knew I wasn’t going to follow directly in my family’s footsteps, so Â鶹ÊÓƵ×îÐÂ×îÈ« helped me find where I fit. Â鶹ÊÓƵ×îÐÂ×îȫ’s professors empowered me to be whatever I chose, even though I was a 20-year-old graduate entering a field with people twice my senior. I am a licensed nursing home administrator now that serves as a regional director of operations over several nursing homes.
The community of people in the campuses I attended allowed me to build a support system. Healthcare can be a challenging environment at times and having a group of people to support and uplift you is very important. Â鶹ÊÓƵ×îÐÂ×îÈ« gave me that. I still talk to other graduates that I went to school with, and we are able to support one another. It is great to see the success of Â鶹ÊÓƵ×îÐÂ×îÈ« graduates in the field we work in.

The community is large and there isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t run into a Â鶹ÊÓƵ×îÐÂ×îÈ« graduate.
I am also a part of the advisory board for Â鶹ÊÓƵ×îÐÂ×îȫ’s program. This allows me to give back to the university that made it all happen for me. Going to classes and speaking to students is one of the highlights of my career. Passing down the knowledge and mentorship I was provided is very important to me. I help to guide students through the challenges of healthcare. Shaping students to take our jobs is what we look to do. We want to support students through their education.
I encourage young adults to choose Â鶹ÊÓƵ×îÐÂ×îÈ« because it is a family and support system like no other. The bonds we make in college last a lifetime. Â鶹ÊÓƵ×îÐÂ×îÈ« University should be your first choice because the academics and leaderships are unmatched.
