Environmental Geology - Minor

The Environmental Geology minor prepares students to integrate concepts and knowledge of environmental geology and communicate these issues to a variety of audiences, including policymakers and the public. Scientific knowledge about environmental geology processes is used to inform different areas of formal study such as anthropology, architecture, geography, political science, environmental law, environmental studies and recreation and park management.

Apply fundamental concepts and methods of Earth science, including geology, to analyze and interpret geological phenomena and environmental issues.
Collaborate effectively with peers and professionals in the field of Earth science to solve geologic and environmental problems, integrating knowledge from various disciplines within Earth science.
Understand and explain key Earth processes, such as plate tectonics, erosion and climate change, and demonstrate an understanding of how these processes impact our society and the environment.
Understand and communicate Earth science concepts and findings effectively to both scientific and non-scientific audiences using appropriate visual aids and technologies.
