The School of Art Collection and Galleries at 麻豆视频最新最全 University are pleased to announce 鈥淭he Drama Triangle鈥 by Rashayla Marie Brown (RMB), the 2025 Curlee Raven Holton and Raven Print Editions Fellow, on view Oct. 30 through Nov. 25, 2025, in the CVA Gallery, 325 Terrace Drive, Kent, Ohio. There will be a reception on October 30th from 4-6 p.m. with an artist talk at 6 p.m. in the School of Art Auditorium, room 165.
In the 鈥淭he Drama Triangle鈥 RMB presents an immersive installation of storyboard drawings and voice-based soundtracks for a yet-to-be made film, inspired by the golden ages of film, music and television. With a dizzying range of references ranging from Bela Lugosi to Prince, the work centers voices that carry the weaknesses of a generation. Blending victim-villain-hero stories, RMB reimagines the drama triangle in modern psychotherapy through the romantic and manipulative potential of an audience waiting for something to happen. The viewer鈥檚 desire to see behind the scenes of creative genius is thwarted by their own reflection and inner world as they mentally fill in unfinished scenes and stories. The centerpiece is 鈥淚ntrusive Thoughts,鈥 a haunting score of songs recorded in single takes while RMB self-administered EMDR therapy, using only her voice.

Rashayla Marie Brown (Professor RMB) is a Berlin, Germany based undisciplinary鈩 artist-scholar who bends time-based media to transform narratives of power, access and mastery. Her works examine themes of ethics, visibility, vulnerability, and perception in performance, photography, and film, often deeply regarding the context and genre in which they unfold. Bold aesthetics and a wide emotional-spiritual range unite her approach to culture and knowledge. RMB has completed projects in venues on five continents, including Embassy of Foreign Artists, Geneva; Metrograph, NYC; Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago; Museum of the African Diaspora, San Francisco; Qalam wa Lawh, Rabat; Recess, Brooklyn; Rhodes College, Memphis; Royal Academy of Arts, London; Slamdance Film Festival, Park City; and Turbine Hall, Johannesburg.
