Accreditations

Accreditation is the public recognition awarded to colleges, universities and programs that meet established educational standards. Accreditation assures that teaching, student achievement, curricula, academic support and other criteria meet certain levels of excellence and quality.

Aviation Accreditation Board International (AABI)

The Aviation Accreditation Board International (AABI) was created in 1988 at the initiative of 100 colleges and universities with aviation programs who recognized the need to establish standards and submit themselves to the review of their peers and the industry.  Its purpose is to serve as the official accrediting body for all collegiate aviation.

To achieve accreditation, aviation programs must satisfy the expectations of a wide range of quality criteria relating to strategic management of resources, interactions of faculty and students in the educational process and achievement of degree learning goals.  An AABI team of academic and industry members visits the institution seeking accreditation to evaluate the programs against accreditation standards and criteria.

Unmanned Aircraft Systems - Collegiate Training Initiative (UAS-CTI)

The Unmanned Aircraft Systems Collegiate Training Initiative (UAS-CTI) is a program designed for universities, colleges, and technical schools by the FAA to recognize institutions that prepare students for careers in  drones. Post-secondary institutions with UAS curriculums that want to be recognized as UAS-CTI participants now have the opportunity to apply for this distinction. The results of this collaborative working relationship will include a continuous dialogue with stakeholders to connect colleges and universities with general industry, local governments, law enforcement, and regional economic development entities to address labor force needs.
